FAQ
Is my text truly private?
Yes. The Notpad has zero server communication. Your text lives exclusively in your browser's local storage. We don't use analytics, cookies, or any form of tracking. For extra security, use the Lock feature to encrypt notes with AES-256-GCM.
How does the encryption work?
Click the Lock icon, enter a password, and click "Encrypt & Save." Your note is encrypted using AES-256-GCM with a key derived via PBKDF2 (100,000 iterations). The encrypted text replaces your plain note. To read it again, enter the same password and click Decrypt. If you forget the password, the note cannot be recovered.
Will I lose my notes if I clear my browser?
Yes โ notes are stored in localStorage, which is cleared when you clear your browser data. Before clearing, use the Save button to download your notes as files. For long-term encrypted storage, consider exporting an encrypted copy as a .txt file.
Can I use this on mobile?
Absolutely. The Notpad is fully responsive and works on phones and tablets. Tabs, encryption, and all features work identically on mobile browsers.
